Transfer Student Journal Applications

Congratulations on transferring to Wayne State University Law School! If you are interested in joining the Wayne Law Review in your 2L year, it is important to start your application early to ensure your submission is as strong as possible and that you can be properly considered for one of the few spots held in reserve for transfer students. Importantly, we do not expect perfection—only your best effort.

General Overview

This application is the only opportunity to become a member of the Wayne Law Review. The application will be composed of four portions: a statement of interest, a statement on inclusive excellence, a portion of your 1L trial brief or equivalent 1L writing, and a Bluebook test and textual edit.

Wayne Law Review does not participate in any grade on, and does not do a traditional write on. Applications must not include any indications of GPA or any other academic honors.

Timeline: The application timeline for transfer students is independent from the application for traditional Wayne 1Ls. You must contact the journal within one week of receiving your acceptance, and no later than August 7th. You will have 7 days from the date you received the application materials to submit your completed application. You are responsible for managing your time and submitting your application by the deadline.

Application: To receive the application materials and full instructions, send an email to the Wayne Law Review Production Editor at law_production_editor@wayne.edu or the Wayne Law Review Editor in Chief at lawreview@wayne.edu.

We look forward to hearing from you!
