The 2012-2013 Wayne Law Review Symposium: “Revisiting the American City: A National Survey of Urban Legal Frameworks”

The 2012-2013 Wayne Law Review Symposium: “Revisiting the American City: A National Survey of Urban Legal Frameworks” will be hosted on Friday, November 2 from 8:00am to 5:00pm.

Today, the United States is increasingly faced with a harsh reality – how can the City survive amid economic crisis, environmental concerns, suburban sprawl, and increasing inequity? The Wayne Law Review hopes to answer this and other pressing questions with its annual symposium. No location is more fitting than the City of Detroit, which will serve as our “experimental lab” for discussion, and we will explore solutions from across the nation and globe as to which urban legal frameworks can guide the survival of the city.

Speakers will include national leaders on urban policy and lawmaking, as well as Michigan’s own policymakers and trendsetters in urban development, community action, and land use planning.

Please join us as we set out to discover what makes a city great and what makes it survive.
